St Ninian's Isle

This picture was taken one sunny day in July from Mossy Hill. The island is St Ninian's, connected by a Tombolo.

Sea Debris

This picture was taken while out walking around Spiggie not so long ago.

Road to Nowhere

An interesting cloud bank waiting to spill its guts engulfing everything around it.

Portal

Is this doorway a portal to another universe? Or is it just a rundown old shed? You decide.

No Shelter

Another grim day while out walking along the cliffs in Sumburgh.

Broken Lagoon

One of my first attempts at HDR photography. A particularly stormy sky highlights this picture well.

Grainy Day

This picture was taken on a fine sunny Summer's afternoon, looking out towards the lighthouse on Sumburgh Head.

Pollution

An interesting find. This full barrel of oil was discovered washed up on the beach. The writing on the side reads 'Total', part of one of the oilfields off Shetland.

Fungi Flowers

This fungi was noticed battling it out with some dying flowers when I was out walking one day.

Foggy Dew

This picture was taken after a particularly long spell of fog. The grass was soaking and my feet ended up the same.

It was this size...

A picture of my son casting off in the hope of landing some Mackerel. I don't recall if we were lucky that day or not. Probably not...

Up Helly Aa 2007

Taken on the last Tuesday of January at the Up Helly Aa festival. Took a lot of pics that night but due to rain and a lack of lens cloth very few were worth bothering about.

This image shows the Galley after it has been set alight with one of the Vikings raising his axe to the burning head.

Welcome to the new blog

I am going to attempt to post a picture a day for the foreseeable future. I will start off with some of my archived pics to get the blog rolling. Enjoy...
