November 2006 - Fireworks
Remember, remember the third of November…at least in this case. The annual Ness Boating Club fireworks night went off with a bang, excuse the pun.
August 2006 – Feeding da selkies
This day we popped up to Lerwick to see Rory who had been off on his boat catching mackerel. A seal had been following him around for most of the day and Aidan got the opportunity to feed it.
July 2006 – Ness Boating Club Gala Day
July brought some nice weather and the annual Ness Boating Club gala had a lovely warm day. This photo shows Tigger Aidan with his Uncle Glynny!
June 2006 – Tammie Norie time
Every year the Puffins (Tammie Nories) descend on Sumburgh Head for the summer (arriving around April). Wonderful little critters, I would still like to try one for dinner though.
May 2006 – Coastguard training at West Voe
This photo shows the Coastguard doing some winch training at West Voe from a Sikorsky S61. They later replaced this helicopter with Sikorsky S92’s.
April 2006 – Whoops, another quiet month
Yep, you read right. No piccies for April for some reason. :(
March 2006 – Snow Scene
March brought with it snow. Lots of it. This photo was taken out at the point of Scatness and shows Aidan and a friend climbing back to the top of the hill to sledge down again.
February 2006 – Sunrise between Compass Head and Sumburgh Head
This photo was taken from Scatness looking towards Compass Head and Sumburgh Head as the sun was rising.

November 2005 – Aberdeen Trip
In November 2005 we went to Aberdeen for a visit. Off to Codona’s to spend a fortune as usual, where Aidan got this huge elephant that I had to carry off the plane!
August 2005 – No shutter sounds
Again, another month where no pics were taken. It could be down to the fact that we had been in Aberdeen for a kilt-fitting in July and I was probably still recoveering!
July 2005 – Grutness Sunset
This photo was taken at the slip at Grutness as the sun was going down. Looking over towards Sumburgh Airport which you can just make out in the background.
January 2005 – Winter Weather
The start to 2005 brought some wild weather. This photo was taken near the end of the runway looking towards Fitful.

December 2004 – Santa Claus is coming to Scatness
What better way to finish off 2004 than with a pic of an excited little boy opening his prezzies on Christmas Day.
November 2004 - Zilch
Nope, nothing…again. For some reason November 2003 and November 2004 were not months to be taking piccies. Looking ahead, the following years appear to have been more productive. Stay tuned.
October 2004 – Isle of Colsay
A quiet month for taking photos and really only this picture worth posting. Taken from the roadside looking down towards Colsay.
September 2004 – Sunset over Scatness & Fitful
Another fine night where the sky lit up with many colours as the sun was setting. This picture was taken from Sumburgh Head, looking down over Scatness towards Fitful Head.
August 2004 – Peerie Spiggie Sunset
One of many sunsets at Peerie Spiggie that I have taken over the years. I can still feel my retinas burning from taking this photo!
July 2004 – St Ninian’s
Another fine clear day brought me up Mossy Hill to take this photo looking down towards St Ninian’s Isle and Tombolo.
June 2004 – Peerie Jeems
June brought some fine weather. I grabbed this pic of my nephew Jeems sitting in the garden (grass needing cut as usual).
May 2004 – Travelling North
I grabbed this photo while heading north one day. I seem to think that we were on our way to Yell that day. The image is taken looking north around Laxfirth somewhere.
April 2004 – The Fog descends
At the beginning of 2004, Scatness seeemed to be the place to be. This photo was taken at the Loch at the end of Scatness that you can see in the previous two pictures (Feb, Mar). This time though, it was a foggy night. This is the sun about to set behind Fitful Head with Aidan looking out over the loch.
March 2004 – Purple Scatness
By March the snow had gone and left us this wonderful colourful sunset. Again taken out at the end of Scatness, looking towards Fitful.
February 2004 – Fitful Snow
February 2004 brought some snow. I took a wander out to the end of Scatness and took this picture looking towards Fitful Head.

December 2003 – Fair Isle Sunset
Taken on 30/12/2003. Aidan and I had walked out to the point of Scatness and encountered a lovely sunset with Fair Isle on the horizon.
October 2003 - Halloween
Had a double-take with this photo. Aidan appears to be a lot older than 3 years and 8 months in this pic. Anyway, here he is just before we set off guising around the poor neighbours.
September 2003 - Holocaust
Oh dear, a poor month for photography. The image below is the best I can muster. Looks more like a nuclear explosion than anything else.
I think it was taken somewhere around Spiggie or Scousburgh. Difficult to say really.
August 2003 – Sumburgh Head
Crouching down in a field full of crops I took this picture looking out towards Sumburgh Head and Lighthouse.
July 2003 – St Ninian’s Isle
July 2003 brought a nice sunset at St Ninian’s Isle. I believe that this was the day that we went over and met the family when Euan & Karen were down with the caravan. I could be wrong though…
June 2003 – A skinny boy!
What better way to kick this off than to find a picture of a skinny lad from 2003. Aidan would have been 3 years old when this was taken at Scatness, Shetland on top of a pile of gravel that he enjoyed sliding down.
New Project…
Looks like I am going to resurrect this blog again for a little project I have.
I am going to try and pick out my favourite photo at the end of each month and post it here. These photos will not be technically correct or even nice to look at. These are pictures that I have chosen for a reason which I may or may not share on these pages.
I am going to start from June 2003 as that is when I received my first ‘real’ digital camera.
I have discovered after looking through my images that I have a lot of absolute crap, some months I don’t even have any images, so I will make do with what I have.
