December 2008 – Christmas Cousins

This photo of Aidan and Hannah was taken on Boxing Day at their Uncle Glyn’s house.  Matching ganzies and matching cheeky grins!

November 2008 - Fireworks

This was a memorable evening.  Ryan had found some old fireworks while clearing out so we went down to the beach to set them off.  Aidan thoroughly enjoyed it.

October 2008 – Halloween Again!

Yep, thought I had better stick to the routine and post yet another Halloween pic.

September 2008 – Coastguard Training at West Voe

Thought I had better post this photo as a comparison to the one I posted for May 2006.  Here we have the Coastguard Sikorsky S92, “Oscar Charlie” doing a spot of winch training at West Voe.  This aircraft replaced the Sikorsky S61 pictured in May 2006.

August 2008 - Firestarter

This photo is a reminder of the many, many bonfires that we have had in the past.  This one has Aidan silhouetted in the foreground.

July 2008 – Sunset from Grutness Pier

This photo was taken one evening Aidan, Ryan and myself had gone fishing at Grutness Pier.  The building in the background is Wilsness Terminal, Sumburgh Airport.

June 2008 – Whaddya mean foul?

One of many pictures I have of children falling down around Aidan’s feet.  My apologies to the owner of the child.

May 2008 – Sunset at Sumburgh

This picture was taken from Sumburgh Lighthouse looking across West Voe towards Fitful Head.  You can make out Aidan in the foreground patiently waiting on me!

April 2008 – Coastguard S92

Another airport photo.  This time it is the Coastguard S92 doing a spot of crazy training.

March 2008 – Saab 340 Landing

A frequent occurrence throughout 2008.  Here is a Loganair Saab 340 landing at Sumburgh Airport.

February 2008 – 8 Years on

Here the boy is, blowing out the candles on his 8th birthday.

January 2008 – Up Helly Aa

Picking my favourite photos from 2008 has been extremely difficult and once again I would like to point out that I haven’t chosen these pics for their beauty or technical perfection.  I have chosen each of them because they have at least an element of meaning to me.

To begin with we have Up Helly Aa 2008.  I quite liked the effect of the lights and smoke silhouetting the Guizer Jarl.

December 2007 – School Xmas Concert

The end of another year, another bunch of pictures, a lot of blood, sweat and tears.  To round off this year I have picked Aidan’s School Christmas Concert.  One of very few December 2007 photographs I have.  Singing to the best of his ability, front row, far side (without the hat).

November 2007 – Spooked Siskin

I was walking to the car when I nearly stood on this little guy.  He flew over to the wall and I managed to grab my camera from its bag and snatch a shot just as he was flying away.

October 2007 - Scalloway

We were just leaving Scalloway and decided to pull over to get a couple of photos of the sunset.  I think it was worth it.  Scalloway Castle can be seen dominating the centre of the photo.

September 2007 – West Voe sunrise

This photo was taken at 0630 looking out towards West Voe and Grutness as the sun was beginning to rise.  The sky was filled with colour.  A truly amazing sight and the photo doesn’t do it justice.

August 2007 – Peek-a-boo

This photo was taken at the Ness of Burgi, an Iron Age defensive blockhouse.

July 2007 – Peerie Spiggie again

Yep, it’s time for another photo taken at Peerie Spiggie on a fine summers night.

June 2007 – Fitba’ Crazy

2007 has been a tricky year to choose photos from and June was no different.  I thought I had better include one of Aidan playing for Ness United though.  Here he is going in for the kill.

May 2007 – Beach Boy

This was an easy month to choose which photo to use.  This is possibly the favourite picture I have ever taken.  We were at Spiggie Beach just as the sun was going down, casting a lovely light over Aidan.
